THINGS SURVIVORS WISH YOU KNEW
A DRESSEMBER PODCAST
EPISODE 5: Hannah Blair
In this episode, we have the privilege of talking with Hannah Blair. Hannah combines her experience as a survivor of sex trafficking with her education and professional abilities to advance the fight against sexual exploitation. We'll discuss survivors' aftercare, preventing revictimization, what survivor leadership means, and how to avoid re-traumatizing survivors with good intentions.
Hannah collaborated with Homeland Security to train law enforcement, served as a survivor consultant with the nationally-acclaimed Polaris Project, and received the Elie Wiesel National Prize in Ethics. As a graduate student, her research was recently showcased at the Himalayan Policy Research Conference and is used to develop survivor leadership training. She works for multiple anti-trafficking organizations all over the country and has spoken at events and churches throughout Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, and Florida. She is a member of the National Survivor Alliance, the Global Association of Human Trafficking Scholars, and the Fellowship of Extraordinary Women. She continues to offer her expertise to develop training for survivor leadership and better serve survivors as they do the hard work of healing from complex post-traumatic stress disorders.
[Trigger warning]: Please be aware that this episode includes a discussion of sex trafficking, trauma bonds, and complex trauma, so please take care of yourself when deciding to listen.
