From Sold to Thriving: Kamlai's Story
Kamlai was only 10 years old when she was sold into a sex trafficking ring in Thailand. Sex trafficking and forced labor run rampant in Thailand. Young girls are vulnerable to recruitment for the sex industry.
Kamlai was one of several children recruited to service older men. After being sexually exploited for over a year, Kamlai was rescued when a signal was received by the local child protection board.
An A21 social worker was able to place her under protection where she began to heal through counseling, education, and long-term care.
Today, Kamlai is doing wonderful and continuing to dream. She is meeting with a psychologist regularly and excelling in school this year with very high grades. She is thriving in her community and A21 is honored to be part of the solution for her future. The person responsible for the exploitation of Kamlai and the other children is under investigation.
We are grateful that Kamlai and those who were trafficked alongside her are safe. Their freedom is the reason we fight.
