Where does the money go?

It’s one of our favorite questions! We are proud to partner with organizations on the frontlines of the fight to end human trafficking. Our community of over 115,000 supporters on six continents is creating capacity for anti-trafficking programs around the world. Dressember is far-reaching and uses funds to support programs in a variety of areas. For the 2019/2020 campaign, Dressember has partnered with 15 organizations around the world. Each partner is vetted on an annual basis according to five key criteria:

Aftercare Partners

A21 - Currently, we are partnering with A21 to establish a Freedom Center in Cape Town, South Africa which will accommodate survivors and provide holistic aftercare services. The organization works on the principle that many small actions can eventually lead to big differences and radical change.

LOVE 146 - LOVE 146 operates on the principle that only love can correct all things which stand against love. We partner with Loe 146 to care for survivors in the Philippines with two safe homes, one for boys and one for girls.

Saving Innocence - We are partnering with Saving Innocence to expand case management services to meet the growing demand for frontline services for youth survivors. Saving Innocence’s mission is to serve, empower, prevent and advocate. The organization accomplishes its mission by responding alongside child welfare and probation, connecting children with communities and celebrating their accomplishments, and speaking out on behalf of children.

Restore NYC - Restore NYC works to restore the well-being and independence of foreign national human trafficking survivors living in New York City. Our partnership with Restore NYC provides English classes, job readiness training, and job placement to survivors of human trafficking through the organization’s Economic Empowerment Plan.

Coalition to Abolish Slavery & Trafficking (CAST) -CAST uses education and life-transforming services to create a platform for advocacy for policies and legislation that support survivors. CAST provides services for survivors in Los Angeles, California, including transitional housing, legal aid, counseling and casework, connections to healthcare and educational scholarships, and leadership and job training

Rescue & Identification Partners

International Justice Mission (IJM) - IJM is the largest anti-slavery organization in the world and operates on the principle that if anti-slavery laws are properly enforced, the business model of slavery will eventually become unprofitable for slave owners. Our partnership with IJM focuses on:

  • Rescuing victims from sex trafficking

  • Restoring broken justice systems

  • Training police

  • Working with NGOs in South Asia

Thorn - Thorn is working to eliminate child abuse on the internet. We partner with them to help fund a sex trafficking investigations tools to help law enforcement identify child sex trafficking victims advertised online. Thorn is the first data science and engineering team to focus on developing new tech to combat online child sex abuse. The new tool accelerates victim identification, equips platforms with the ability to identify victims, and empowers the public.

Anti-Slavery International - Our partnership with Anti-Slavery International will work to help companies reduce the prevalence of slavery across supply chains. The “Corporate Supply Chain Program” in the United Kingdom is one of the organization’s main programs and provides consulting and awareness training.

 
 

Prevention Partners

McMahon/Ryan Child Advocacy Center - McMahon Ryan Child Advocacy Center is a child advocacy center dedicated to healing and preventing child abuse. Our partnership with the center works to educate and assist at-risk youth in Syracuse, New York using a five-module prevention curriculum.

Pathfinders - Our partnership with Pathfinders works to support homeless youth at risk of human trafficking. The organization is in the process of creating a Youth Advisory Board in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Advisory Board is intended to give survivors a leadership opportunity and chance to give insight into services that they believe are the most impactful for victims of human trafficking.

The Freedom Story - Dressember partners with The Freedom Story to mentor and educate high-risk students in Northern Thailand about human trafficking and how to safeguard themselves from the dangers. The organization accomplishes its goals by providing human rights education, scholarships, resources to empower students, the encouragement that students need to stay in school, and tools to break the cycle of poverty and exploitation

Youth Spark - Youth Spark provides programs through the organization’s Youth Services Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Our partnership exists to support vulnerable youth, particularly those at risk in the LGBTQ+ community. The organization seeks to increase school engagement, decrease the number of runaways, and provide group therapy as well as court advocacy.

Olive Crest - Olive Crest operates on the principle that family transforms childhoods, preventing child abuse and restoring the lives of children already impacted. Our partnership with Olive Crest works to train staff and educate children in California and Washington group and foster care homes. The training instructs youth aging out of the system on how to prevent commercial sex trafficking.

 
 

Training Partners

Businesses Ending Slavery & Trafficking (BEST) - BEST’s approach focuses on the employers and employees who may be most likely to interact with victims of human trafficking. Dressember partners with BEST to expand their training program in the hospitality industry which works to train hospitality staff on how to recognize sex trafficking and understand the impact on victims through “Inhospitable to Human Trafficking” program

Truckers Against Trafficking

Truckers Against Trafficking operates on the idea that movement along interstates, as done by truckers, provides powerful “eyes and ears” in the fight against human trafficking. Our partnership work to brings law enforcement together with leadership from casinos and bus companies to train employees to spot human trafficking.


 
 
Miranda Cecil
 

Miranda Cecil is a spring gal who loves traveling to new places as well as her local frozen yogurt pump. When she's not finishing homework or watering her succulents, she loves to ski, read, and play her rollout piano. Miranda is hoping to turn her passion for human rights and safety into a career as she studies political science and urban planning at the University of North Carolina (Go Heels!)
