Dressummer Book Club: Dare to Lead
Book Club and Beyond: Conversation, reflection, and discussion
For the past three summers, the Dressember community has gathered to read and learn together, and this year is no different! This summer, we’re reading Dare to Lead by Brené Brown, and we’re excited for the leadership lessons that we can transfer to our advocacy.
Throughout the month of July, we’re hosting conversations on Instagram Live as another way to explore the concepts in this book. Mark your calendars!
We can’t wait to host these intentional conversations with our guests, Rebecca Ching, Nada Jones, and Latice Crawford.
July 7 at 3pm PT: Vulnerable advocacy - featuring Rebecca Ching, hosted by Jillian Rae Saldana
July 15 at 10am PT: Values-driven advocacy - featuring Nada Jones, hosted by Blythe Hill
July 19 at 10am PT: Trustworthy advocacy - featuring Latice Crawford, hosted by RuthAnn Deveney
Don’t worry, if you can’t tune in at that time, we’ll save the recordings so you can watch later!
To go along with each conversation, download these journal prompts! This is a great way to engage with these topics, even if you can’t read along with the whole book. If you’re on a Dressember team, you can share your thoughts with that group, or use the prompts as an opportunity for individual introspection and reflection. We hope that these conversations and questions enable you to think deeply about what you bring to your advocacy.
Stay tuned for details about our book club discussions! There will be two opportunities: August 5 and August 10. In the meantime, get a hold of your books, join in on the discussions, reflect in your journal, and we look forward to learning with you!
