Dressember in a Minute
Hi, I’m Blythe, founder of Dressember, a collaborative movement which leverages fashion and creativity to restore dignity to victims and survivors of human trafficking. What began as a fun and creative style challenge has transformed into a global movement and awareness campaign to end human trafficking. Today, it is estimated that approximately 50 million people are trapped in modern slavery.
Whether it’s for just one day in December or the full 31, we’re asking advocates to commit to dressing up to fight for the dignity and freedom of women, children and families worldwide who have been trafficked, using your creativity and voices to advocate and bring attention to the problem of human trafficking and our commitment to end it.
Since its founding in 2013, Dressember has rallied over 280,000 supporters in over 30 countries, raising over $20 million for global anti-trafficking work. The funds raised by Dressember advocates have supported International Justice Mission’s efforts to protect people in poverty from violence. As one of the largest and most influential anti-trafficking organizations in the world, IJM ensures that every dollar raised goes as far as possible to help protect people from trafficking, and partner with survivors on their journey of healing and restoration.
Dressember is more than a campaign, it’s a community, because together, we can do more. And we’d love you to join us in helping to end human trafficking. To find out how you can get involved, take part in Dressember for either a day or for all 31 days in December to help raise awareness or fundraise for Dressember.

Nope, that’s what’s great about Dressember! Everyone is encouraged to make the challenge their own. Some people wear a different dress every day, some wear the same dress 31 days in a row, some choose to wear a suit and tie once or twice a week, and others choose to simply dress up! Whatever you feel comfortable committing to, the point is to get creative and express yourself while making a meaningful, sustainable impact on the world.

Human trafficking is defined by the United Nations as the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of people through force, fraud or deception, with the aim of exploiting them for profit. Men, women and children of all ages and from all backgrounds can become victims of this crime, which occurs in every region of the world. The traffickers often use violence or fraudulent employment agencies and fake promises of education and job opportunities to trick and coerce their victims. Throughout Asia and the Pacific, the number of people in modern slavery as a result of human trafficking is estimated as almost 30 million.
